When can I schedule a ride? Reservations are excepted Monday thru Saturday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Reservations are accepted by an answering machine on Sunday for the following business day, (Monday).

How do I ride Rockford ParaTransit? Riding Rockford ParaTransit is equivalent to riding RMTD’ s fixed route system. There is a scheduled arrival time and you must be ready when the vehicle arrives. The driver can wait only 5 minutes for you to board. You and your companion should meet the vehicle. You will be given a time to board, and there may be additional stops before reaching your destination.

Please remember, the vehicle may arrive within 15 minutes of your scheduled pick-up time. If the vehicle has not arrived 20 minutes after your scheduled pick-up time, please call us at 961-2275 (961-0072 TTY).

Please remember that our service is curb-to-curb service. Our drivers are not allowed to leave the vehicles to assist you from or to your door.

The driver is required to collect a fare of $3.00 or a ParaTransit token from you and your companion prior to your departure. Please have exact change ready. Drivers do not carry change. Personal assistants are allowed to ride free of charge if such a need is indicated on your Rockford ParaTransit application.

Prior to your departure, the driver will secure your wheelchair, fasten your seat belt and shoulder strap. For comfort, safety and cleanliness of the vehicle, eating, drinking, chewing tobacco and smoking are not permitted.

 

When do I need to call for a reservation? You are encouraged to make your reservation up to two weeks in advance, but no later than the day before your trip. When making a reservation, we prefer you schedule a time for your return trip. Please note: NO CHANGES MAY BE MADE TO A RESERVATION AFTER 5:00 PM THE DAY BEFORE YOUR TRIP.

When making a reservation, please be ready to provide: 1) your name, 2) the date you want to be picked up at your point of origin, 3) your pick-up address, 4) where you will be going, 5) destination time, 6) return time, 7) telephone number of your destination, 8) time you want to be picked up for your return trip, 9) whether you use a wheelchair or other mobility devices, 10) if a personal assistant will be riding with you, 11) whether a companion will be riding with you at a charge of $3.00 per trip, 12) infant seats must be provided by the eligible customers for children under the age of four.

How do I cancel a reservation? To cancel a reservation, please call 961-2257 (961-0072 TTY). Rockford ParaTransit would appreciate at least a 24 hour notice, but, please no later than 2 hours before your scheduled trip.

If the 2 hour notice is not provided, you will be required to pay the one-way trip fee of $3.00.
