Seniors Ride for Free on RMTD starting March 17, 2008

Starting Monday, March 17, 2008, all senior citizens will be able to ride RMTD's fixed routes for free. To take advantage of free rides To take advantage of the free rides, anyone 65 years of age or older will need an RMTD photo ID. Photo ID's are taken every other Wednesday between 1:00 and 4:30 pm at 501 W. State Street.

The cost is $2.00 and proof of age, such as a State ID, driver's license or birth certificate will also be required. For more information call 815.961.9000 today.

After we receive your application and you have received the welcome packet, you can call toll free, 877.561.3330 to schedule a ride

Please note that anyone wishing to book a ride on Stateline Mass Transit once service begins needs to have an application on file. SMTD applications can also be obtained by contacting the respective Village or City Halls. Once completed, applications can be sent to 520 Mulberry Street for entry into the computer system.


Effective 11.21.07 - Service to CherryVale Mall

The Rockford Mass Transit District is please to announce that effective Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at 8:45 am, the Rockford Mass Transit District will begin service to CherryVale Mall. This historic first run will leave the downtown RMTD Transfer Center at 8:45 a.m. on the #11 East State Street Route departing from Berth H. The first stop at CherryVale Mall will take place at 9:45 a.m. RMTD will board and alight passengers at the Northeast entrance to the mall located between Sears and JC Penney's.

After the inaugural 8:45 a.m. trip, regular, ongoing service to the mall will be offered the #11 East State Street Route, Monday thru Saturday from 7:45 a.m. until 6:15 p.m. Night service will be provided Monday thru Friday, from 6:35 pm until 10:35 pm on the , #36 Perryville Alpine Route and service will be offered on Sundays on the #40 East State Street Route from 8:15 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. There will be no service to the mall on Thursday, November 22, 2007 in observance of Thanksgiving Day, however normal service hours will resume on Friday, November 23, 2007.

CURRENT DETOURS

Due to the temporary closing of Springbrook Road, the #16 and #17 Big Loop Routes will make the following detour:

Big Loop North: Left on Perrville, Right on Old Creek Road, Right on Trainer, Left on Springcreek, resume route.

Big Loop South: Right on Trainer, Left on Old Creek Road, Left on Perryville, Right on Springcreek, resume regular route.

These changes are in effect until further notice.
